We are the Nimitz Chief Selectees

Welcome to the USS Nimitz FY09 CPO Selectees fundraising page. As newly selected Chief Petty Officers, we go through a grueling six week training and induction period prior to receiving our anchors on September 16th. One of our required tasks is to raise money to assist us in paying for our brand new uniforms, the pinning ceremony, and our Khaki Ball. This site aims to assist us in reaching our final money goal of $32,000, or about $1000 per CPO selectee. So far, we have raised approximately $15,000, putting us nearly halfway to our goal. Since we are already halfway complete with the induction season, we find ourselves slightly behind the curve. This is where you come in.

Any money you are able to donate is greatly appreciated! We aren't asking for much. As Chief Selects, we are already hard at work raising money through car washes, food/bake sales, auctions, and much more. This fundraising web page is just another means to the end. It will help our families and friends from around the country to easily donate. Simply click on the button to the right to transfer your donation via PayPal.

We will provide updates of our progress for you as often as we can on this web page. Please keep a bookmark. We will provide pictures of what activities we have done to document our efforts at raising the $32,000. Thank you very much for your donation!

Special Thanks to those who have contributed:

A Look Back...

Now that Juri and I are getting back into the blogging scene with our "Rated E" blog, I decided to look at my other blogs to see the work that I have done. Having read through the posts here concerning our Chiefs Initiation brought back a lot of memories: some bad, a lot of good.

Overall, I learned a lot from the experience and have grown up considerably since then. I have been through another Initiation from "the other side" and learned and grown even more. I took what I learned most from my own experiences with Initiation and applied them when I was teaching the FY10 Selectees during their physical training sessions. I am a big fan of group physical training, because everyone is able to push each other to do their full effort. I went into the FY10 Initiation Season looking to show them lessons in teamwork and motivation. I hope that they were able to pick that up.

This is the last post for this blog. I made some great friends through Initiation, and I still keep in touch with the majority of them. Thanks again to everyone who supported us and to all of my brothers and sister who went through this crazy and amazing process with me.
